2 cups fresh basil leaves, washed and dried 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil 3 garlic cloves, minced 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese 1/4 cup pine nuts Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
Toast the pine nuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes until lightly browned, stirring occasionally. Set aside.
In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, minced garlic, and toasted pine nuts. Pulse until the ingredients are finely chopped.
While the food processor is running, slowly drizzle in the extra-virgin olive oil until the mixture is well combined and has a smooth texture.
Add the grated Parmesan cheese and pulse a few more times until it is well incorporated into the mixture.
Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Transfer the Italian basil sauce to a small bowl and serve immediately, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
