Italian basil recipe

Here’s a simple Italian basil recipe:


2 cups fresh basil leaves, washed and dried
1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup pine nuts
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste


  1. Toast the pine nuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes until lightly browned, stirring occasionally. Set aside.
  2. In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, minced garlic, and toasted pine nuts. Pulse until the ingredients are finely chopped.
  3. While the food processor is running, slowly drizzle in the extra-virgin olive oil until the mixture is well combined and has a smooth texture.
  4. Add the grated Parmesan cheese and pulse a few more times until it is well incorporated into the mixture.
  5. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  6. Transfer the Italian basil sauce to a small bowl and serve immediately, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
